Nick is an experienced musician and musical director based in Ipswich, Suffolk, who started learning the piano from the age of seven. More recently, after a career not related to music, he studied music at Anglia Ruskin University at undergraduate level and then a Masters in Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He set up the Ipswich Hospital Community Choir in January 2013 and has been their musical director since, and is also currently MD at the Emma Dodd School Of Performing Arts.

Nick’s influences for his composition work include many diverse sources, including classical music ranging from Bach to contemporary classical, popular music from the 1960s onwards, musical theatre and electronic and computer-generated music. His compositions to date include many pieces for solo piano and piano duet, short works for string quartet, pieces for small ensemble, and a seven-movement orchestra suite, plus a number of other acoustic pieces for various instrument combinations. He has also written experimental works making use of electronic and synthesized sound.

In addition, Nick is an accomplished arranger of music for choirs in a number of formats from 3-part to 8-part, both with accompaniment and ‘A Capella’, and he has also arranged for full orchestra and wind band.
